It has recently been brought to my attention (Thanks LilMiss) that where I have the preview for the book (The first 69 pages) is a real pain. You have to register, and even when you do people are having trouble downloading the sample. I decided to offer it here to make it easier for people to check out.

Here is the file.

http://www.howardshrine.com/media/ebookpreview.pdf

You will need adobe reader to read it.

This is pretty much the finished product. Slash is proofreading this version one last time. There are still some errors in it. Maybe more than some. I am going to fix the errors he finds, add some new content like some interviews I have done since Howard moved to Sirius, fix the margins in the introduction, and lastly dedicate the book to the memory of my biggest fan and supporter,my mother, who passed away recently. I made a collage of pics for her funeral and actually used the frame from the shrine that Howard's private parts poster was in. I was even thinking about tearing down the shrine now that she is gone. She was very proud of what I did, and loved my book. It is almost like the heart of the shrine has died. I guess I shouldn't make any decision while I am grieving like my friend Eddie Sacks told me....He is probably right.

Some other bit of news also makes me think that the shrine has run its course, so to speak. I was informed by someone very high up on the Howard 100 News team ladder that they were in Howard's office a few weeks ago and sitting on his coffee table was a copy of my book....one of only 4 books. They told me that they thought this was very impressive. I think so too. This news has made it all worth it. My mother was very happy when I told her the news too. It was something we shared in and had many, many laughs over. She also liked the news story they did on me and my collection. I played it for her at the hospital. She was a very kind, and sweet person, and she will be terribly missed.

I hope you all enjoy the sample, and I will let you know when the final book is done incase any of you want a copy.

So far what I've read is really good Doc As a fan of Howard sense the beginning it brought back a lot of memories.

As far as the Shrine Doc, don't tear it down, in time it will become a good memory for you to think of your mom.

I'm reading the 69 pg review and it's great, it has it all! I can't wait to read the rest! Stern fans, you gotta read it or you'll miss out on a great book!Doc [ No Rating ] 15 Apr 2006

It is a fun quick read and I enjoyed the photos . The book is an awsome collection of Stern crap that one fan was able to put together . Doc's love for the show is clear and proves the power of Howard Stern . Bravo !!!!!!!!!!A Howard Fan's Dream 15 Apr 2006 (updated 15 Apr 2006)
by Jeremy the Loner
Putting it simply, this is the biggest, most extensive collection of Stern-related interviews and autographs found anywhere, bar none. There are literally hundreds of rare pictures (including a nice selection of girlie ones), and the interviews are packed with stories and anecdotes you won't read anywhere else. It offers a great, albeit second hand, insight into the enigma that is Howard Stern. Very highly recommended!Doc [ No Rating ] 11 Apr 2006

I found the preview to be nothing more than a glorified scrapbook. It is clear that the author is an uninspired amateur. I couldn't see myself or anyone else actually putting out money for such crappy effort and for information that is already well known to stern fans. This book is dead in the water. I give it a big zero. I am one of the true Stern fans so you can take it from me that this is not a book it is a joke. The Ultimate Howard Stern Book [ No Rating ] 10 Apr 2006

There is only one word for this book...AMAZING! Doc is not just a mere fan of Stern, he is the ultimate fan. His collection and his love of all things Stern comes out in this book. I wish more than 69 pages were available. It was like tickling our ass with a feather. I hope the book becomes available in bookstores. This book would appeal to every Howard Stern fan, and Doc's collection in unbelievable. I highly recommend this book!Impressive [ No Rating ] 3 Apr 2006

Impressive... Odd.. but impressive...Howardshrine 3 Apr 2006

Doc has amassed one of the most bizarre and fascinating collections, and the fact that each item is somehow related to the Howard Stern show makes it even more interesting. It is certainly a book all of the fans of the show would be excited to see and own. From countless signed headshots, and notes to more bizarre items—such as Crazy Cabbie’s nametag from his prison uniform, an autographed maxi-pad from Schiovanne the transsexual, a cast of Beetlejuice’s tooth…. This is a collection that would make John Waters blush.Howardshrine is a unique take on The Howard Stern Show. 3 Apr 2006 (updated 3 Apr 2006)

Howardshrine is a unique take on The Howard Stern Show. The book is entertaining and informative. I've only read the first 69 pages and am positive the rest of the book is every bit as good. My favorite parts are the interviews with various people involved with the Stern Show. KC's interview was pretty funny on a variety of levels. Henny Youngman is probably rolling in his grave at all the material KC stole from him. My trashy anthropologist side enoyed looking at the autographed photos of Bababooey -- you can actually see him age 2 decades -- fascinating.

After reading that I influenced the author through my own book Getting to Howard, I felt honored and appalled at the same time ; ) -- but this proves the strength of Stern's radio magic -- he really pulls a lot of people into his orbit.

I definitely recommend this book to Stern fans. Don't worry, if you're not a scholar -- there are plenty of photos. Also, don't worry about this book not being written or promoted by Stern, YET (although I think it would be nice of him to give the book it's deserved props). Howardshrine is from a fan's perspective, for fans, and therefore could only have been collected and written by a fan. It would make a great gift, even if you have to give it to yourself. Doc, congratulations, and great job. Will we finally get to see your face on the book tour? ; ) Cheers! This book [ No Rating ] 3 Apr 2006

Sounds good slash. I'm not quite ready for it anyway.

I just ordered a few more copies of the current version if anyone wants a copy. I invited Jon Hein to come tour the shrine this morning (he is going to be near whereabouts unknown in a few weeks) and I'd like to have a copy to give him just in case he stops by.
